Hi, sisters and sisterfriends! The Lord has really shown me myself recently. Near the beginning of this year, I prayed that God would put a mirror up to me so that I can see myself as He sees me. Well, He has definitely done that! It makes me think of the words of Paul in the New Testament. He says that those things that he does not want to do, he finds himself doing. That is me all the way. I have seen arrogance, pride,...CARNALITY! I am amazed at how far back I have gone from where I should be in my walk with Christ.
Here I was praying to God that He would send me as a missionary to tell others of His peace, true joy, and love. I was not ready and was too carnal to notice. Tonight I found myself watching a sermon on television by Bishop C Bronner called "Sent". I am thinking that I need to purchase this from www.woffamily.org because I caught it in the middle. He was preaching about what characteristics God looks for in His people. He gave an analogy that struck a chord in me. If I were to be in charge of a business that had several stores, and I placed an incompetent person over on of those stores I would not, in turn, give him greater responsibility. I know. Common sense, right?? *lol* I was like that incompetent who was looking to be given more responsibilities, but is unfaithful in the few that were given to me.
I have decided that I need to back away from activities that cause me to spend time away from God for a period of fasting. I am not saying this because I want to look good, but because I feel that it is necessary that we know the tools that God has given us so that we can live victorious lives! I have been thinking about fasting for a while, but tonight's message really gave me a clearer vision of myself and where I am, and am not, spiritually. I don't know when I will start, or how long it will last, or what type of fast to do, but I am trusting in God. He will show me what will please Him! Ladies, do you have any feedback on a successful fast that you have done? Also, what type of fast was it? No food, no liquids, no media, no sweets, etc. I'd love to hear about the outcome of your fast!

Wow, this is a great post. :) Thank you for opening up and sharing. I fast from things all the time, but not necessarily food (being pregnant most of my life, haha). But I have noticed an EXTREME difference in my life since I have wiped out certain places, entertainment, etc. from my life. Less negative in, more purity in ... less negative out, more purity out. God constantly transforms me! :)
ReplyDeleteHi there, old friend, thanks for your input! Do you have any details of your fasts that you like to share? I will pray about it and soon so that I will know what God's will is.
